What did tornadoes sound like before the invention of the freight train.

Tornadoes kind of sound like a freight train, but only "kind of". A herd of bison is pretty close, but really...they have a sound all their own and once you hear it, you will never forget. It is a dull rumble, like a train, but there is also a whistling sound created by the wind blowing through trees, etc. that will drop your heart into your stomach. So, overheated steam kettle fits into the equation too. But it is the very spooky combination of the two that creates the unique sound that gets burned into your brain.

I get chills even now, and it's been 8 years since I was in my last tornado.
