I have only got one really good job so far because of my education and that was only really a good ' paying ' job. I worked with special needs kids in the school system full time for two years and it was somewhat rewarding. I am volunteering a bit right now - and have a reference from that. I am helping a freind market a business and he is increasing his customer base from my help. What should I do ? Just keep volunteering and get part time / casual related employment to what I want ? I want to work in an office with a tie at least. I took over fifty grand in debt getting two degrees. Right now I am working a warehouse for half of what I was paid in the school system.

Keep working in your field in whatever capacity you can to get started and try to advance from there. It can take a few years to really get going while you "pay your dues" and until a good opportunity can find you. That opportunity won't find you out in a factory somewhere. If you continue to add relevant experience to your resume and you network within your targetted field, you'll eventually get an opportunity to take that first big step up the ladder.

Be sure you don't shy away from networking -- while a student I objected to those you claimed "it wasn't what you know, but who you know". I've learned from experience however that having an "in", even a little one can give you the inside track on a job opportunity. Nearly every position I've held involved finding a "in" to get noticed. Once you get noticed you can make your case and win the job.

Good Luck.
