um, no. We have enough uneducated people voting without thinking children could be part of that

No, I don't think children should be allowed to vote in a real election. What age is a child? I agree with the voting age of 18. (But I also think that "children" under 18 should not be able to drive unattended by an older licensed driver.)
However, mock elections or elections for student government in schools are an excellent preparation for taking up the duties of a citizen later on.

Yes I think children aged 12 and up should be granted the right to vote but only after given a competence test of the candidates, political parties, and government in general. Also I would like to add that I grew up in a Half conservative, Half untold household and my political views established at age 12 are Moderate and very different from my parents.

No, because until they reach the age of majority, they are technically not allowed to make decisions for themselves. That's the whole thing about being a minor - the parents/guardians are 100% responsible for the child's well-being, and are given full power and authority to go with that responsibility. This is why minors cannot sign contracts, and why they are normally not allowed to consume alcohol, but it's okay if the parents/guardians are present and aware of the consumption.

Greetings!
Letting children vote today can be dangerous. For example what if the parents are Conservative Republicans and the kids want to vote Democrat.
Kids need to establish independent thinking. Cloning the parents is not a good idea. This was a terrible idea thought up by politicians by politicians.
Think about it.
Good Luck
PS So your 8 year old comes home and says he is voting straight communist. Yea go for it

Of course not. Is there a category for the dumb question? This would be it. Do you let your children run your household? There's your answer. I wonder if you even own your home or if you rent. Maybe we should also go back to the days when only property owners were allowed to vote.

What an awesome idea!! Have children double their parents vote!!! Well, I guess that means the democrats need to start with the baby-making as the republicans are beating us.
And I appoligize if you are a child, because then this was very rude of me.

WHY??? Although the adults haven't had much luck in choosing the right leader. And after that picture of George Bush trying to read a book which was upside down, maybe the children would have voted for a more competent leader.

no, because children are way to easily influenced by their parents and mentors. if a teacher wanted a certain person in office, all he would have to do it tell his students to vote a certain way, and it will hapen. children are too young to know what is going on in politics. We should, however, educate children on the importance of voting. it's rediculous when people complain about the government and they don't even vote!

Sure. We should let them vote. We should also allow them to drink, smoke, and all of the other things that kids are restricted from. What planet are you from?
