Im not sure about the "OWN BABIES" bit, as Im sure anyone who has adopted will no doubt class that child as no different to their own.
However, Im a mum, I never really wanted kids to be honest, my gorgeous daughter was a lovely suprise and now I cant imagine my life without her to be honest, im more shocked than anyone how she's just fitted in with my life, like she's always been there.
But its defo not for everyone, alot of my female friends have kids and some dont so its down to individual choice, I feel alot of women are forced into motherhood by overzelous wanna be grandparents....

It is most definitely the key to the meaning of life; but the fact that you can even ask this question by asking if they are overrated accessories shows beyond all doubt that Children are most definitely NOT for you!
As for those twenty/ thirtysomethings women that tell you they are not maternal and do not want their own Children; ask them again when they are 40, 50 and 60........see what they say then, body clock really is an evil curse of nature for anyone finding themselves on the wrong side of it; nothing worse than SO wanting something you CAN'T have.
Dress it whatever way you like; your OWN Children ARE the meaning of life!

Good question. I used to be the type of person who didn't understand the wow factor of having kids (oh you've got kids well done), that of course was before had my 2 girls. It really does transform your life, i cant explain it but for me its the greatest thing in the world, people without kids might look down there nose and call me sad but I don't care. Kids are great, a bit expensive and of course sometimes I miss my wild days, Just bring em up right, etc etc blah blah blah

I am sure that for some people babies satisfy a deep emotional need. For others I think it is just something they feel they 'should' do.
I am very proud as a woman in my thirties to stand up and say that I have no maternal bone in my body, I do not want to have children and whilst I am very happy for my friends that do have them I do not want to talk about the pregnancy, the birth or the ins and outs of their childs' life with them. Most of my friend respect and even enjoy that.
I beleive I hold the key to making my life have meaning and i think to look to a baby to do that is opening yourself to dissapointment and them to resentment
