Someone who studies fish is an ichthyologist. Is that what you're thinking of?

A marine specialist is called a Marine Biologist. They would know more than your average Vet about how a fish's internal system works, and what to do about fixing problems.

But it seems to me that there are also probably Veterinarians that have specialized in marine life, and are employed by the huge seaquariums in order to keep their residents healthy (or, at least, there SHOULD be!).

A vet that specialises or has a special interest in 'exotics', ie. fish, gekos, lizards, turtles, snakes etc.

One of the vets where I work has a special interest in this field.
