I went to my doc yesterday at 1:30 and she said I was dilated to a good 4 and 80%. She was convinced I would go into labor within the next two days. Yet I'm worried because I have been bleeding for 3 days now and still no labor. Has anyone else experienced this. Also if my water doesn't break will they break it for me.

My doc told me the next time I come in she wouldn't let L&D Send me home. Do you think she meant that she would start labor for me. I am 37 weeks and 2 days.

When I went to the maternity ward with contractions 2 minutes apart dilated to 4 and 80% effaced they told me that at 4 they were required to break my water for me which means I was having a baby within 24 hours. So, maybe all you have to wait for is some regular contractions.

Oh yeah--definitely within the next day or two. I was 50% and 2-3cm for a long time (weeks). You're further along. I'd say contractions should start any hour now. Good luck!

And yeah. If your water doesn't break it's routine for them to do it for you. It's not painful in the least and done with what looks like a big plastic crochet needle.

I was 100% effaced when I was 3 centimeters, and that only took a few hours. So, I'd say any hour, heck, any minute. You have more pain tolerance than me. I had my epi at 3 cm. LOL. Good luck to ya :)

The bleeding is from your cervix changing. If the bleeding increases (like a period), you need to go to the hospital. Technically, once you reach four centimeters, you're in labor (I'm surprised your doctor did not go ahead and put you in). If you go into labor and your water does not break, they will most likely break it for you. It is painless. They take a small hook (looks like a crochet needle), insert it, hook the bag of water, and tear the bag. There are no nerves in the bag, so it does not hurt. GOOD LUCK!

I have a 10 month old. My water didn't break so they broke it for me. I was in a similar situation as your's so I just asked them to go ahead and induce. I had her 6 hours later! Good luck!!

I'm assuming the bleeding is minimal, or else your doctor would be more concerned. If you don't go into labor within the next day or two, chances are that your doctor will induce labor with petosin (or something similar). And don't worry about the water breaking... that will happen on its own when you go into labor (or when you are just about to go into labor), or they will break it for you.

Yes I think that is what your doctor meant. If you are 4cm and 80% effaced then you are in labor but it isn't active yet. You should be there very soon.................
