Mine was a Pontiac Lemans, 1989.
The wiper blew off, the trunk would not open, the door handles froze in the winter so you had to drive holding the door shut, it had a vacuum seal problem, it would not go in to park without a bunch of fiddling around with the key, and more that I cannot think of now.
I noticed you never see those cars around anymore.

1989 caveler(misspelled but who cares)

the hood flew up twice while I has on the highway, the gas lid stuck and I had to pry it open with a screw driver, the passenger door wouldn't open, it wouldn't start when it was below 40 or above 80. I hated that car.

It's a toss up between a 1979 Triumph Spitfire and a 1986 Mercury Capri. The Spitfire caught on fire the first time I flipped on the headlights, as I had not thought to inspect the wiring harness before I bought it. I discovered it had about 6" of insulation burned off the harness due to a short circuit. I never did get it running after putting the fire out.

The Capri may have moved about 75 miles under its own power in the year or so I owned it. The body was rusty, the electronics were shot, and the brakes barely worked. But my favorite illustration of how bad it was has to be the time my father drove behind me on the highway when I was going to drop it off at a friend's house for some work. My father said when we arrived, "I thought you'd run it out of oil when it stopped smoking halfway through the trip."

In the end, though, I think the Spitfire gets the "win" based on how much money I lost. I bought it for $2,500 and sold it for $700, while I bought the Capri for $100 and scrapped it.

I've only had two cars, so that's very limited in scope for me.

1997 Saturn SW2. The electric window openers on the driver's side stopped working. To fix the driver's window cost more than $300. To fix the one behind would have cost another $290, so I'm driving around without that operational.

Every time I take the car in for an oil change, the mechanics have managed to find $400+ in additional recommended repairs.

Ford Escort. I call it the killer car. I spun out on the freeway when I got cut off and tried to move to the shoulder to keep from getting hit. The car hit the soft dirt and started rocking. I tried to move it back onto the pavement and had to hold the wheel tight as it started to sway like it was going to tip over. I just held on really tight and the car spun around at least 360. When I was done spinning, I was facing the wrong way on the freeway only inches from the front of a semi, who fortunately had stopped.

the worst for me was a pontiac grand am, during the winter the heating went, the wipers didn't work properly, the plastic by the front broke when i slid into a hard snow bank which is impossible to stop in on icy roads. it was very costly for me to maintain. i would never buy a grand am again.

57 Plymouth was pretty bad when the dash caught fire, how about the 71 Simca when the starter fell out, or maybe the 81 Chevy Chevette's front seat , oh ya, the Pinto wouldn't start for weeks :(

they all had their good points and bad

for a photographic record

A 1982 Pontiac Citation. What a piece of junk. It finally caught fire sitting in the driveway and burned up.

1981 Honda Accord EXI, rust everywhere power windows never worked. Bumper was tilted backwards almost falling off. The muffler continuously fell off. License plate was held up by one screw. Surprisingly Toyota took it in for 6 grand.
