I'm a male,17, and have these small pimple like things under my arm bit and they hurt bad, like a volcanoe bursting!! Is this some sort of thing I highly need to worry about? I don't have them under my other arm, so I don't think I'm allergic to my deoderant. I just got them over night on 10/10/06. Thanks

It's that weird white-looking stuff that's almost translucent, right? Sounds like you've got an ingrown hair of some sort, or a plugged pore that made you develope a pimple. Usually plugged follicles cause the really big and firm-feeling ones that hurt when you squeeze it, and often the discharge can get a good 2-3' of distance. They almost resemble red mosquito bites. DON'T agravate it anymore than you already have. Wash it with a small amount of rubbing alcohol to disinfect whatever is already there and to keep it from festering now that you've made it an open wound, then leave it alone and let it do it's own thing. Don't put anything else on it like deodorant or spray for a few days and it will go away. Some times they happen just because, even to the cleanliest of people. Don't sweat it too much; peace out. [[[ If the formation persists for more than a week, the pain becomes intolerable, it gets any bigger, you begin to notice any abnormal discoloration besides a possible scab, or anything like that, then hit the doctor's office pronto. ]]]

I used to have the same problem when I was 18.

I found there's a big difference between antipersperant and deoderant. antipersperant uses aluminum hydroxide or something that can irritate the pores and sweat glands under the arms.

Make sure you're only using true deodorant, or if you can stop using anything until it clears up.

If you don't notice any improvement by the end of the week, I'd check in with your doc just to be sure.

Best to you.

These are cysts from your lymph nodes. They are hereditary, and they really Hurt! They can get really big, sometimes the size of a grapefruit. The best thing to do is get some antibiotics like tetrocycoline and as soon as you start to feel one developing, start taking them. I have the same problem and they are a pain. It's not an allergy or because you use a certain deodorant or even because you're not clean enough. It's an infection in your lymph nodes.

It could be a number of things....an ingrown hair or hairs, the start of a boil or abcess of some kind, or, and don't panick, herpes zoster. If they are spreading and there is pain along a nerve, then it may be herpes. Warm compresses may help along with taking some motrin, but just to be on the safe side, get to the doctor and have yourself checked out.
