Here is the reality of body piercings. A foreign object in the body is still that foreign. So even when the piercing is completely healed the body itself will still try to push the foreign object out. As time goes by the inflammation dissipates and there is no redness or other visible signs of the body fighting it off and yet, if I scratch my upper ear, or move the ring around and happen to smell my finger... it smells like puss. It's completely natural and normal. And with time it lessens greatly. If your self-conscious about the smell invest in some tea-tree oil (about $8 - $12 in the health section of Fred Meyer) and put a small amount on each piercing every morning and night. It is natures antibiotic and helps the body quit resisting the piercing. It also has a fabulous natural smell to it that if nothing else will make the other "smell" obsolete and you feel better!

i have a navel ring and when a hole or any wound heals your body sends white blood cells to prevent help fight infection. Any germs or bacteria that is destroyed is pushed to the top, and that's the pus (white-yellow liqiud) that sometimes comes out. but because you probably dont check your ears every hour on the hour, some of the pus dries and the pus in the hole stays there and starts to smell. (that's crust that's always on the earring.)
Just clean your peircings every once in a while and if it smells dont worry its NATURAL!!

Ok, I could get you smelling your nose piercing, but how did you manage to smell your ear?

It's a reaction with base metal. Use only gold or platinum and the smell should go away.
