My four month old has his first cold and I know this sounds horrible but he's driving me crazy... So whiney and he woke up 3 times last night when he's been sleeping through the night forever... and he won't let me use that blue squirty thing to get the snot out of his nose. I gave him tynol but it doesn't seem to be working... Any suggestions? How long will this last? How can I help him? Should I take him to the doctors? It seems like a regular cold though...

Sit in front of a humidifier. If you don't have one then turn on a hot shower and let it steam up the bathroom and sit with him in there for awhile. Don't let him rub his nose and then rub his eyes either. If he gets germs in his eyes then the cold will actually get in his eye and it will get very gooey and gross and infected. Get him to sleep as much as possible. Your body heals faster when you're asleep. Good luck and I hope he feels better :-(

he's fine. You can fight him on the aspirator, just wait until he's content or just about asleep before you use is, and be quick about it. The more you hesitate and fuss around about it the more agitated he'll get. Just be quick and forward and have it over with.

BUt you can get by without using it.

As long as he's eating regular he's fine. Some baby tylenol might help with the achey head of a cold, but its also not needed.

He will survive it. They usually last a couple weeks.

I'm with you on the driving you nuts...been there, done that...and i was told if they do not have a fever then you do not have to bring them to the peditrician unless it lasts more than aweek and it does not seem to go away!! Just give him infants cold and cough and take him in if it lasts a week. Good luck.

Try giving him a nice warm bath. A doctors visit might be a good idea, or just a call into the doctor's off would probably be ok.
