I would suggest some of the classic scary movies like Carrie, It, the Shinning, Poltergeist, Jaws, Gremlins, Psycho. By today's standards they are PG13 although they used to be rated R. Most of those just mess with your mind instead of a lot of blood and gore. I hope this helps.
