I met this girl just now and she seemed kinda cool, the problem is I olny talked to her for about two seconds and then the light turned green. (yeah, we met waiting for a traffic light). Anyway, I wanted to see if I could use her licence plate number to find her information, other than by calling the police and accusing her of a hit and run or something, obviously.

That is the reason that it is a crime to divulge that sort of information, even if you had access to it. In some states and under certain circumstances it would be a felony for both parties to the exchange of that information.
Next time, ask the girl at the light. If you follow her and she drives up to the sheriff's office, might be a good idea to just keep on driving!
