I need to find out how to get her to take better naps. She wakes up for the day btwn 6-7am. takes her first nap 9am but for only 30 minutes - i let her cry it out but she wont fall aslleep. She takes her second nap between 12:30 and 1pm but for only about 40-50 minutes, i let her cry it out but she wont go back to sleep even if i rock her. She is visibly tired after her second nap. She goes to sleep at night and during the day all by herself without my help. She just cant stay asleep for long. I have tried everything rocking her as soon as she makes a sound upon waking up to ctrying it out...I am not sure what to do next...
She is a great eater and has a routine. Any help would be appreciated

Turn of the tv and anything else noisy a half hour before you're going to lay her down. Close the shade/curtains in her room to make the room more relaxing. Lay her down and shut the door. If she gets up then let her lay there. She needs to learn how to put herself to sleep and picking her up and interacting with her won't help that.

She is to young to let cry it out! What are you putting in her bottle? Juice, milk or water is all she should be getting. NO SODA Are you playing with her? Letting her play on the floor? These things will help tire her out. So she only takes a 30-40 min nap. That could be all she needs. Please don't let your little darling lay there and cry. You're the Mom and that means taking care of her not just letting her lay there! Is she sleeping all night. If so there is nothing wrong, you just need to get used to her being awake during the day! It's what babies do ya know! They can't sleep all the time!

Maybe its time to move the morning nap up so she takes just one nap each day. Or make the morning nap later and the afternoon nap later too. She may need to be really tired to fall asleep easily. but if you start making everything really quiet and tell everyone shush the babys sleeping she wont get used to the noise so i dont suggest that.

If the cry it out method does not work...put her in a swing..the back and forth motion always put my son to sleep even when it was not time for his nap...and i agree with the mom of 2 with the room darkening shades!!!

My son was about the same age and doing the same thing. Upon the advice of a doctor I bought a white noise machine for his room. He slept great. I still use the white noise machine in his room now and I also have one for me and my husband. He is now 8.

I got room darkening shades for my kids rooms. Or you could hang a blanket over the windows. They slept a lot longer when it was dark. I also had a fan on in their room to block out other noise in the house.

If Baby is having trouble getting to sleep, put her on the edge of the bed, and she will drop off.

...Yes. It was a joke.
