Wish you were more specific whether it be what was given to patients or parole given to a criminal.
In either case I don't think it will or did help. They probably damaged people's bodys with the first and most criminals are likely to go back to what they were doing before they were incarcerated for what they did wrong.

are you talking about ECT treatments used for depression? If so yes they work very well,there are a few older patients that it doesn't always work on but when medication doesn't pull someone out of a sever depressive state this is their next resort.I have had to have it done a few times and it worked very well for me.You have some short term memory loss that's the only side effect. If this is not what your asking about I'm sorry.

Its simple classical conditioning put to work. As long as the brain is traumatized and remembers the shock, the unwanted behavior will cease. How long will it remain? that's the problem with this procedure, it is unknown.

NO,that is why the don,t use it anymore.They use it in extreme cases High-Voltage ,to kill criminals.

i think it works, but it doesn't necessarily help. i think it would damage you mentally in the process. it just doesn't seem healthy to me.
