Have you ever done an oral interpretation?

Question

this here is for speech, an intrepretation it's when you read something speak for the characters. I can do a "Dramatic Interpretation" or a "Humerous" or "Duo Interpretation" (i don't want to do Duo because I don't have enough time to practice w/ a partner) You are not suppose to move feet feet from w/ though, it's called "acting from the waist up" and mine need to be 5 minutes long.

Problem is: I don't know what I should do my reading on for the interpretation!
-got any suggestions?

Many years ago, when I was in High School I did my humerous interp from Alice in Wonderland. i did the scene in which tweedle dum, tweedle dee and the queen of hearts are trying to decide what to do with Alice. But that's just one suggestion.

Some other great ones I have seen were from children's books. You can do a scene from any play that you really like, but try to pick a scene that has four or less characters, otherwise it can be confusing to you and the audience. Shakespeare is always a great place to look for both Humerous and Dramatic interps. If you want humorous, try something from A Midsummer Night's Dream or Much Ado About Nothing. If you want dramatic, the best are Richard III, Macbeth (particularly the scenes with the three witches) or Hamlet...Good Luck.

I read the book 8000 Stones. It's a children's book based on a tale from imperial China. It has many wonderful images to pull into your interpretation.

Children's works lend themselves very well. Another to try is Leo Leoni's "Frederick."
