Hast anyone tried Navtrak? I work for a small business and we have been using Nextel GPS but it's horriable. How are the reports? is it accurate?

Navtrak can be through nextel, it's called telenav, and it sucks too.... just like Nextel sucks. It only works for some phones too, so you would have to have the specific phones that it works with. Here go to the website below......

Hi There!

I just wanted to clarify the previous response you got - Navtrak and Telenav are completely different companies. How do I know? I work for Navtrak!

Anyway, we get the Nextel question all the time, and frankly it works for some businesses and doesn't for others. If you're looking for a reliable way to track your vehicles 24/7, plus get activity reports and real-time alerts to your cell/pager/email, Navtrak is the best choice. If you want to just track your people occasionally - with the understanding that if they simply turn off the phone or put it in the glove compartment it won't work - Nextel is an option.

We just completed a great case study that should help you - after all how can I be objective? :) Here it is:

The Boucher Real Estate Story:
Discovering the Advantages of Vehicle-Based GPS Tracking over Handheld

The Problem
Boucher Real Estate Company is a family-owned million-dollar real estate and property management business, with clients spanning all of Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts.
The business manages new home construction and commercial and residential properties. Boucher Real Estate services and maintains over 500 apartment units and rentable office units.
A typical day for Boucher’s techs includes meeting a wide range of needs such as plumbing, property upkeep and replacing windows and doors. The company operates a fleet of more than 10 service trucks that respond around-the-clock to as many as 200 calls each day.
Founder and owner John Boucher was searching for a GPS system that reduced unauthorized vehicle usage, stemming the tide of rising fuel costs and reducing service maintenance costs. In addition, Boucher wanted to more efficiently track his service fleet to boost responsiveness to tenant calls.
Initially, Boucher Real Estate selected a Nextel handheld GPS tracking solution. However, the company quickly realized the solution was not meeting its needs.
“Nextel did not work for five months. We never got it fully operational without problems. With the handheld GPS system, we were not able to track vehicles either. For instance, if one of our techs left the phone at the work site, it would show him there because the tracking was done with the phone, not the truck. There were numerous other reporting errors on the location of our trucks because of the handhelds,” explained Boucher.
Some of Boucher’s employees shut down their phones to avoid detection. “We had some instances where employees would just simply turn the phones off. If the phone is turned off, you can’t track the trucks.”

The Solution
Frustrated with the shortcomings of its handheld systems, Boucher Real Estate turned to Navtrak in the hope of finding a GPS system that would reduce unauthorized vehicle use.
Boucher explained that the Nextel solution was initially chosen because it was more economical. “That was such a failure, we decided to go back to Navtrak and implement it,” said Boucher.
Navtrak was installed on 10 of the company’s service vehicles. After installation, Boucher Real Estate was able to more efficiently track its workforce, contributing to a marked reduction in fuel consumption.
Boucher noted, “It immediately gave us a lot more control over our workforce. If our techs are leaving, it shows they’re in the truck and tracks everywhere the truck goes.”
The Results
Within just three months of installation, Navtrak’s impact on Boucher Real Estate and its bottom line has been outstanding.
“Within the first three months of Navtrak, our gas consumption had gone down 15 to 20%. I immediately knew I saved probably $600 in gas alone. That basically pays for the Navtrak system each month. At the price of gas today, I’m making that up and more with this system and its capabilities.”
Navtrak also boosted fleet responsiveness to tenant and rental issues. For example, now Boucher Real Estate could easily locate the closest truck to any problem site and immediately help a tenant. “This also gives our tenants peace of mind, because we can get a service person out to them who is closest to their location already.”
Boucher runs daily Navtrak reports that allow him to reward employees if they’re more efficient with their time. He explained, “I can sit with the employees during annual reviews, hold the report and say, ‘You know I’m really impressed by how efficiently you worked and you get this amount of raise because of it.’ I think that will be powerfully understood by the employees that this system benefits them as well.”
Additionally, having Navtrak on the trucks has reduced the time trucks are lost or in repetitive trips to the hardware and supplier stores because employees know they’re being tracked. Cutting down on the repetitive trips has also lengthened the time between the next full maintenance services on the vehicles.
The Navtrak system continues to exceed Boucher’s original expectations. “I would absolutely not go back to handheld tracking. It never worked. Each new truck we purchase will have Navtrak on it—there’s no question about that now.”
