I have a a phone which i bought from abroad. I am trying to register the phone by putting in the phone serial number. I have typed in the IMEI number but that didn't work, any suggestions?

it should be on the back of the phone once you have removed the back to get at the battery.

If you brought the phone aborad, and you got a UK sim, its more then likely you need to unlock the phone for it work, it maybe still locked to the network it came from.

Another reason could be that the serial number is different from the sticker inside the phone underneath the battery. Type *#06# to compare. If it still doesnt work, its possible that the phone is stolen and the serial number is blocked, unlikely but it happens.

the imei number is the serial number. You are probably being asked for the sudsidy code which can only be provided by the network through which the handset was originally sold.

Did you get the phone from America? Most American mobile phones don't take SIM cards so can't be registered to European networks.

try to open the battery compartment, usually the serial number is there.

what make of phone u have, it depends on that too.

usually its inside the phone underneath where the battery goes or try keying #*06# onto your phone

*#06# on any phone and if its a nokia you have the extra advantage of pressing *#0000# and this will give you extra informaton for example when your phone was made which may be handy for letting you know when your warranty runs out like putting it in your phones calender

it could be that the IMEI number was changed. if it is a Nokia try *#06#.
