The 50-story residential tower, known as the Bel-Air, had flames and smoke pouring out of the windows on two floors at one point. Apartments on at least two floors appeared to be fully engulfed at around 3:00 pm. Half an hour later, there were no flames, but smoke was still coming out of the windows.

The plane hit the 50-story building at or near the tenth floor. Authorities said there was fire on the ground as well as in the building from spilled fuel. Witnesses reported seeing a huge fireball at the time of the crash, and there are reports that debris fell to the ground.

Conditions in New York City were foggy at the time of the crash. At this point the cause is not known, but terrorism does not appear to have played a role, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Department of Homeland Security is monitoring the crash scene.

The White House says President Bush has been made aware of the plane crash. All indications are that this is an accident and there are no changes in the national security alert status, a spokesperson said.

Yes, the story is on the Yahoo home page. Some kind of small plane hit a hi-rise apartment building - they don't think it was a terrorist act yet.

My birthday is today, 11th October.
My Dad's was September 11th.
And my sister's birthday was on the July 7th bombings in L:ondon.

Wierd, huh? I said to everyone I was next! And it happened. And if you believe that, and I swear I'm telling the truth, my name is Jack Jackman.....
