A portrait user made a comment about avatar users versus persons who display actual images of themselves. According to this poster, persons who use avatars refrain from putting up pictures because they aren't comfortable with their appearance.
What do you think?

No I don't think that. I think there are reasons people would rather not want everyone to know who they are. I have kids. I say some wild things at times and I don't won't too have a picture of my face up here then later get mad and say something rude and maybe some one see it later and say. Hey I know that person. I don't think any less of the ones that use pictures and avatars. You know really when I see a real picture I think man their bold. lol
I have always been safe online. Plus I'm married and I ain't looking for a man. Why I need to put my picture up for...

Sure. I hate the way I look in pictures, it totally destroys all my self illusions. But I've noticed that many of the portrait users put up photos that are full figure, so you can't really see what they look like anyway. Me, I like to keep 'em guessing as to whether I am male or female. Although it is pretty easy to figure out, in many of my posts. And besides, just really like my blue chair.

Not really; at least not in my case. I get on the computer while I'm at work, or sometimes at the library, so I have no way right now to get my picture on here. Otherwise, I would.

As a professional, I have to be careful where my picture is and who is looking at it. Would hate to have a client say they saw my picture on the internet so they wouldn't give me the account. That would really stink. lol

No. I don't have any current pictures of myself or a scanner. So my avatar is me........only its kinda like a cartoon with purple hair.

not true. I have no problem with my appearance. I just don't have pics of me without someone else in them. It defeats the purpose of displaying yourself if people can't figure out who you are out of a group.

i just dont want the whole world knowing who i am really, but i am similar looking to my avatar anyway, its just a bit of fun so what does it matter, to them anyway!
