I agree with Poop about the lvl 65 Elite Tundra in WoW.
There are other bosses that are a pain too. Overall, I would say WoW has the hardest bosses. I mean if it takes 40 people at lvl 60 to kill something, damn.

Oh man........ GREAT question. I'll put up a list since there're too many to pick just one from:
1. God of War: at the end where you have to fight all the Kratos clones while protecting your family by giving them your health.
2. Mega Man 3: the last fight with Wily gives me nightmares.
3. Street Fighter III: Third Strike: Gill is a bastard.
4. Castlevania: Lament of Innocence: Forgotten One, the secret boss who gives you the black orb. And I'm talking about on Crazy Mode.
5. Diablo II Expansion: Baal, in Hell mode by yourself. Unless you're maxed out on every skill and piece of equipment it literally is Hell.
6. Ratchet & Clank: the end boss of the first game. That was harder than a porn star's dick, even with the Tesla Claw and Visibomb Gun.
7. Doom: the original Doom back from the 90's, at the end of episode one where you have to fight two Barons and a room full of Spectres(invisible Pinkies) with the chaingun as your strongest weapon. Try that in Nightmare mode.
8. Resident Evil 4: when you fight El Gigante for the first time and have nothing to hide behind since he smashes all the little cabins to bits. Yes, the wolf helps you out a little bit but you're most likely ill-equipped for the fight.
9. Final Fantasy VII: Sephiroth was unbelieveable. The one-winged angel version where he would destroy the solar system just to kill you.... now THAT is mean.
10. Battletoads: getting past the third level's boss(the raceway) in one piece without taking the secret warp was stupid-hard.

Hardest for me was that "cliff" at the end Atari 2600's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" game. Sure, it was about 27 years ago and not really a boss, but it was hard to finish that game.

i think of the toughest bosses are those that forces you to combat countless types with a similar potential/existence bar. i think of Ninja Gaiden II replaced into that way on between the final bosses. the 1st time I have been given to the appropriate boss, Smithy (in large Mario RPG), he replaced into SO confusing. That conflict lasted see you later that i did not think of i might ever beat him. yet years later as quickly as I re-performed the interest, i found out it replaced into using fact i did not point-up sufficient formerly I fought him. using fact he died quickly that factor around using fact i replaced into lots more desirable. The final time I performed Chrono set off, the appropriate boss Lavos beat the CRAP out of me. I used up each and every source of potential replenisher and then died. He/it replaced into SOOOOOO confusing!
