I am going to be singing in a voice recital in 16 days and I really need advice and tips on getting my voice higher and stronger. I started singing a few months ago and a second octave B is the highest I have to go in one of my songs. Still it's hard for me to sing it. Please any exercises ???! Would very much appreciate any help you can think of..

Here is what I do:
Make sure to do warm-ups before singing for at least 15 minutes. Every time you warm up, push one note higher. For me to get to a high D# for the musical Sweeney Todd, in my warmups I thought about being 7 years old again, and tried to make my voice like that - small and sweet. For the recital, don't sing like that. It will just help to get your range higher.
As for stronger, you need to support your voice with your body. Tighten your buttocks when you need to belt. An excercise we use in the musical I'm currently in (The Full Monty) is to get a partner (or find something to hold on to) and pull with your arms. The feeling you have in your upper body is what you need to maintain as well as the lower body support.

Most singers say they drink lemon juice to make their voices stronger. I would try doing some repetitive voice exercises and mouth stretches... Seek out the original 1980 movie 'Fame' and there's a few good scenes on vocal exercises. The movie has very strong language though.

Sing from your gut, and soul...belt it out, and be strong with your voice. (don't hold back!)
