Start with slow, deep breathing and see how you feel.
Try to write out what you have to do and how long you have to do it. Try to divide up your time between things to do, then stick as closely to this as you can, e.g. if you only have an hour then do the best you can in that hour, then move on to the next thing. Having a plan should help you to settle within yourself, and getting things done, even if not perfectly, should stop you feeling so overwhelmed.
If you don't feel up to it, go for a walk or even jog first. This may give you time to think and tire you enough to settle you.
Is there somewhere else quiet you can study like a library? Maybe organise a little babysitting then get out of the house.
Chamomile tea (with honey, if you prefer) can be soothing or look for Bach Flower Rescue Remedy which is great for times of stress or panic. You just put a few drops on your tongue. (They use alcohol to preserve it so don't use if you have ever had a problem with alcohol (: ) Ginger is warming and helps circulation . Try a 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of fresh (or jarred) ginger in hot water as a tea. It goes well with lemon and honey. Gingko Biloba is a good herb for thinking and concentrating.
If you have a four year old try to get them to do similar things to you, like work at the same table, drawing, while you study. Then you can keep an eye on them and they feel like they are with you and doing the same thing, even helping you.
Otherwise you can record yourself reading your notes aloud and listen to it when you take them to play, take them for a walk or while you cook etc so you can get two things done at once. If you take them out to play they should get more tired so they'll sleep better and give you some time back to get things done! You may find they're more settled because they had some quality time with you. Often with kids even just half an hour of quality, focused, undivided attention will settle them dramatically and make things so much easier on everyone, even if you think you haven't got the time.
With your roomate, you may need to sit down and have a chat. Maybe you could organise to have a certain number of hours where it's 'quiet time' in the house so you can (both?) study? Maybe swap this for something they'd like?
Make sure you get enough sleep! Without sleep you can be less focused and get less done, even if you think you are getting what you can out of a day.
Hope this helps

just take one problem on at a time. it sounds to me like ur stressing urself out too much. wat i do, is on my myspace or sumthin, ill write down all the shtuff thats bugging me on a blog. then, its out of my head, and i have more room for important stuff. try to find some 'you' time. just soak in a bubble bath for a hour and think through all ur problems. i might also suggest some calming tea. they have lots, so just find some time and visit a health store. find the one u like best. about ur kid, find him a good friend or babysitter and let them deal with him while ur at ur classes. and bad roomates r just a part of life. tell her exactly wat about her/him thats bugging u and ask her nicely to stop. remember, there might be some things about u that bug her/him as well. i hope i helped in some way.
live long and prosper!
