Kinda surprising that Starfleet couldn’t come up with more durable fabric… but then again these are the same people who built galaxy class starships without seatbelts.

You ask some great questions SueFlower! And, of course, the answer is no... He also never got into a fist fight without shagging a nubile young alien chick first and getting a reproachful look from Spock afterwards. He also always managed to emerge from the fracas with his perfectly coiffured hair perfectly in tact... There's obviously something to be said for brylcreem..

What I'd like to know is: How does a man who boinked practically every species in the universe never appear without his trousers?

LOL -- and don't you just LOVE it, too?!

For those who can't get enough of that action, here is a James T. Kirk action figure -- WITH torn shirt!! Amazing!

"From the Episode 34 - the first episode of Season 2 of Star Trek the orginal series comes this action figure of Captain Kirk. The figure is unique in that the figures shirt is torn across the chest revealing the scratch on the doll from the blade that Kirk suffered in the episode. As you may recall the battle happened during Spock's Pon farr fever and Kirks shirt was cut from the Lirpa in the battle he had with Spock. The fully articulated figure comes with Vulcan Lirpa, hypospray and a command delta base to display your figure out of the box. This figure was manufactured by Playmates and is part of a limited edition of 5000."

A couple of times - decking Lt. Reilly with one punch in "Naked Time" comes immediately to mind ('cause it was on TV last weekend)

No. And in later years, it's now customary for him to appear in a torn girdle.

I'm sure his shirt always ripped because of all of his muscles. It was obvious he had plenty of muscles.
