you can go to Lake Eola in the city. Sometimes they have these swan boat things you can rent and paddle around the lake and fountain. Also you can walk around downtown disney where there is a free outdoor magic show by a great magician, i saw it. Kids love it and he calls volunteers and makes great balloon animals for the kids before and throughout the show. (he has some guiness world record for the fastest balloons animals or something). Not much in Orlando is free or even cheap. The science center is fairly priced and its a lot of fun for the kids - lots of activities. City Walk Universal is fun also, more so for adults but you can walk around and enjoy the atmosphere and take the ferry boats to to the Universal resorts like the hard rock and portafino bay hotel. here is a good site with free attractions. http://www.free-attractions.com/orlando_florida.htm

When I go on vacation... I find a nice hotel and hang out at their pool or beach!

You can go to Downtown Disney and window shop. It's a nice Disney atmosphere with no entrance fee... just a big outdoor mall to walk around and it's on Disney property.
