I wouldn't say joy, as the people I'm helping are usually being beaten down by the system. I cannot take joy in the fact that though I could help them, I would rather that my help not to have been needed in the first place.

Yes. I always did. I can't do all that I did before, but I still try to do what I can. And as my mother's example taught me, don't look for recognition for doing good deeds. Do them "behind the scenes" whenever possible.

Yeah helping my friends and family givies me joy because it helps me feel needed and makes me feel good about myself.
