definately 'The People Under the Stairs' by Wes Craven- at the end the father is in a gimp suit shooting the walls to kill the kids, but the kids blow him up with dynamite.
pretty good film.
not the borrowers - did you people read the bit about shooting the walls??

The People Under The Stairs.
The girl in it played Rayanne (AJ Sanger ?) on my so called life. There is a husband and wife/brother and sister that have kids that are all inbred so they hide them in the walls so that no one knows about them. The part with the shotgun, the guy is dressed in some weird head to toe leather outfit

it sounds like the borrowers to me,could be wrong though, it was a tv series aswell in the late 80s early 90s if i remember properly

definately the borrowers british made film hugh laurie starred and a host of other british actors one or two americans ithink as well
