I dont like the acting, maybe the plot is to blame. To me, it seems a child-like drama. Is it designed to pull in kids audiences, or is it the fact of the sci-fi script that makes it so easy to guess, what is going to happen next? Maybe, people enjoy it because its sort of a british national heritage to television?

It's THE DOCTOR!
I mean, you just don't get better than Doctor Who. A 900 year old Time Lord who travels through time and space. How cool is that?

And he has Billie Piper along with him. Rose Tyler is one of the coolest companions ever - almost as cool as Romana.

To me, nothing beats the classic Dr. Who...in paticular, the episodes that ran between 1974-1981, with the fourth doctor - Tom Baker. As far as I'm concerned, those are the only ones worth watching. Also consider that, at the time, this was really good sci-fi television. Most sci-fi TV of the day was heavy on special effects and action; a little too light on plot. This was the complete opposite and quite refreshing to watch.

Some of the stories are good, some are poor.
Its fast paced
The graphic effects are good.
The theme music is fantastic
The doctor's assistant is intelligent and doesn't scream every 5 minutes.

There are other sci fi series currently on tv that are hopeless.

It's approaching 30 seasons. It has the tradition of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop behind it. It's had some of the greatest ever cast, villians, etc.

And it's even intelligently written.....sometimes. Starting to watch Doctor WHo now, is like seeing starting to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, half way through the eighth season.

It's the longest-running science fiction television series in the world.

Can you say CULT ?

I think the only reason dr who does well is because there are so many sci fi geeks here in uk, i'm old enough to remember the old series and i'm not impressed by these new ones. its time the bbc got some new ideas.

it is supposed to pull kids in and then they will get their friends and relatives and it really is the sci-fi that gets everyone going. My dad doesn't like it 'cos he doesn't like sci-fi but i love it. the plot is also what makes it good but, i think the actors are great and do their parts to better than perfection.

i in my opinion can not understand why various human beings are announcing the former day's episode of DW became a letdown! You did no longer rather think of the scientific expert would have a blood daughter in it did you?! i think of it became very, very sparkling that the identify became deceptive. one in all Russell T's little jokes! of direction the scientific expert's daughter isn't what you think of! The scientific expert IS on my own. it rather is between the main concepts of the prepare! The scientific expert travels because of the fact he's on my own. He alternatives up companions because of the fact he's on my own! of direction they could no longer in basic terms without notice write a blood daughter in for him! he's the final OF HIS SPECIES! The final of the Time Lords! i think of ways she became presented [the assumption of the regenerated tissue pattern] became ok finished yet there have been 2 issues i'm choosy some] why wasn't Martha and Donna grabbed by the human beings and crammed in the device to make clones of them i do no longer understand and b] how Jenny got here out the device in 2 seconds flat as a youthful woman who knew the thank you to hold jointly a weapon right now away! nonetheless pickness aside i think of the sequence so a procedures has been very sturdy. I believe each little thing Spacephantom says approximately evaluating the two sequence, besides the undeniable fact that for me the excellent episode of sequence 3 became "Gridlock." I do think of the return of Rose this sequence will turn each little thing all of us understand on that's head. i think of the former day's episode carried the excellent message of all of the sequence so a procedures - "I in no way would."

It's simple, it's effective, and suitable for all ages. My 5 year-old *loves* it. The effects are pretty good and the Doctor (Eccleston and Tennant) is waaaay hotter than he has been in years. And Billie was great too - I'm still recovering from the hideous 'Bonnie Langford' years...

I've been a Doctor Who fan for years, and to my mind the recent episodes have been the best for years and have revamped something that was beginning to flag.

It's been at least 10 yrs since the last appearance of the "Doctor" in my time zone. We used to get episodes that were 10 yrs old. I guess we'll have to wait for the latest re-incarnation.

To answer your question.........The Daleks!
