Four alarms were sent out, meaning four stations were needed to respond. Any one alarm would probably involve more than one fire engine.

I used to live near a firehouse.
when they send out an alarm, it is to call the people to the station
the more alarms, the more serious the fire.

But I beleive more and more now, they use pagers to call them in.

the alarm system is from before the pagers.
