I vote for the person.

I've always been fascinated by the appearance that Southern Democrats are Republicans. Apparently a result of local politics following the Civil War.

I vote based on views. It just so happens that I share most of my views with democrats. I would have a hard time voting democrat if John McCain was running. But I don't think he is an extreme republican. Remember how the Bush administration totally slammed him during the primary?

I am in my party of choice because they represent my viewpoints best. If they changed I would change parties. I am loyal to my values not a party name.

Only if the candidates were very similar in views and qualifications do I use party affiliation as a tiebreaker.

I can only remember doing this once, in the race for Governor of Oklahoma. Jack Mildren; was running a a Democrat. Frank Keating as a Republican and Wes Watkins as an independent. All of these men were experienced administrators and politicians. They were extremely ethical and all equally qualified. Their views on the issues were very similar and all reflective of mine. I had to use party affiliation as a tie breaker

If they share my views and are up front about it, I don't care about party affiliation. If they try to fake their real tendency then I won't vote for them even if they are of the same registered party. Hilary is a prime example of a person attempting to put forth that she is a moderate. She isn't and won't get a vote from me ever.

As Glenn Beck would say votes should be based on the views of the candidates not the politcal parties.

Because they share my views. Parties don't matter as much as what kind of person they are and what they stand for.
