Well, to me being at peace with myself despite the ups and downs I may be facing daily, can be described as happiness.

There are times when life can be downright rough and if you are not strong and balanced within, you can fall apart. Being happy with yourself, with your life as it is, rich or poor (though it is better to have), will give you that ability to keep your wits about you and go through the storm. The fact is, it will pass!

Happiness is a choice you make for your life not a feeling that is dependent upon what happens outside of you.

Happiness is what makes a person feel whole w/o leaving them feeling empty in the end. Some people get happy when their favorite team wins a sporting contest....But become angry or sad when that same team loses a crucial game in the season. No one can be happy all the time. Life is full of trials and tribulations that can make or break us. It is our responsibility to stray away from situations that bring us down. The moment you place the happiness you have in someone elses playing field, you are taking a risk you may or may not regret. Happiness is great....But never think that it is worth taking someone elses happiness away to have happiness of your own. Learn to play the game yourself before putting too much stress on your team mates. Hope I helped>If you need to consult with the "Happy Coach" to win, than that is good...you will grow from it.

In economics happiness is defined as 'utility' and a factor which determines what consumers will pay is often determined by the amount of utility it provides. No one would say that diamonds for jewelry are priced according to their usefullness, quite the reverse, they are called giffen goods and priced according to the happiness that owning something in such short supply provides. So in economic terms, happiness is money and money makes the world go round.

Actually there is even a direct exchange rate of happiness to cash. Ask any hooker.

Happiness is an emotional or affective state that feels good or pleasing . Overlapping states or experiences associated with happiness include wellbeing, joy, sexual pleasure, delight, health, safety, contentment and love, while contrasting ones include suffering, sadness, grief, anxiety, and pain. Happiness is often correlated to the presence of favorable events (such as a promotion, a marriage, lottery winnings, etc.) and the absence of troubles or bad luck (such as accidents, getting fired, divorce, conflicts, etc.).

Happiness can be a spark of great satisfaction, lasting for a very short time on successful completion of a task.Or it can be a state of mind achieved from reflecting on your achievements, kind and selfless acts, sacrifices, etc

The basic use of happiness is to share it with others, thereby spreading LOVE all around.

Great question that leads to more questions!
Yes, is happiness just the absence of pain and worry?
If happiness is attained fulfillment are you happy after that?
Can freedom without discipline that may cause constriction of spirit?
Is emotional satisfaction permanent?

To me, happiness is freedom, being free to do whatever you want and act on your whims and childish desires, even if for a fleeting moment. Dedicating my life to the pursuit of happiness would likely leave me broke and unaccomplished, but it is those fleeting moments that keep me sane and make it all worth it.
