An aircraft has crashed into the middle of a brick luxury high-rise residential building on Manhattan's Upper East Side at 72nd Street and York Avenue, police officials said.
Whether anyone was injured was not known, and it was unclear if the crash was an act of terrorism. The FBI is looking into this matter. There shouldn't be any other type of aircraft in that particular area,'' FAA spokeswoman Diane Spitaliere said in a telephone briefing with reporters.
Officials say it's too early to say what type of aircraft was involved.

At least four people died as a result of the crash. New York Yankees pitcher Corey Lidle, 34, was piloting the plane. FAA records show the plane was registered to Lidle.

this couldn't be an accident. Nobody goes crashing a single pilot plane in some residential building in New York City when about 5 years ago two hijacked planes crashed into the twin towers. I mean, I thought we had our security system with the airports all checked out. First we weren't allowed to bring anything medal around those medal detectors, and now we aren't even allowed to bring a bottle of water inside those planes.

I don't know...everything in the world is so crazy right now. I'm not sure if it is directly related to 9/11, but someone might have used the attacks as an inspiration, not necassarily terrorists, or someone from another country, it could have been someone from the U.S.A., or it could have just been an accident. Only time will tell.

The last the I heard was that they thought it might have been a helicopter. People on the ground say that they could hear that it was having engine problems. I heard that they are saying that it was just a random act and not terrorism.

Yeah, the timing is very suspicious, but it doesn't seem to be very serious. It's just a residential building. Could have been an accident.
