On an ultrasound, the best time is after 22 weeks. There are regular ultrasounds, 3D and even 4D. Good idea to check with your insurance to see which and how many they will cover.

most doctors do an ultrasound at 18 weeks and that's when they are able to tell the sex of the baby if its in the right position and the legs aren't crossed.

They can tell as early as 16 weeks, but most doctors do it anywhere from 18-20 weeks just to make sure its easier to find the sex.

most people find out for sure at a 20 week ultrasound. some people can find out before that, but the sex organs may not be fully formed. but most drs will not do an ultrasound until 20 weeks unless there is a problem.

I had my babies in the UK. They generally do a 12 week scan and a 20 week scan for each pregnancy. All I know is that at 12 weeks you can not tell, and at 20 you can. They were right - boys each time.

I knew at 20 weeks with my first daughter, but I moved before becoming pregnant with my second daughter. My new doctor made me wait until 27 weeks because he felt that if he looked too early the baby would look female due to swelling, even if it was a boy.

I didn't Know the sex of my until I was 7 months along, I tried to find out on my 5th month, but they couldn't tell, because she was still sitting on her bottom (Breech Position). Some people find out anywhere between 16-20 weeks.
