they are not livebearers, all tetras are eggs layers.

female tetras in general are larger and fatter than males.

The difference between the genders are slight, females are usually a little larger and there are some sight differinces in the finnage, such as the narrower anal fin. They are an egg layer type called an egg scatterer because of the way they randomly scatter the eggs. As mentioned they are dyed and any breeding would merely result in a white skirt tetra.

Only molly, guppy, swordtail/platty are live bearers in the aquarium. Fruit tetras are painted fish, and rarely are healthy enough to breed. If they breed their offspring will be albino tertas. Personally I'd return these fish to the fish store.

They are egglayers.

They are also one of the fish that is artificially dyed.

They put them in a weak acid bath that removes their slime coating and then put them in a dye bath to make them different colors. 80% of them die before they get to the fish store. The color fades in about 6-8 weeks or when just about when they die from the abuse.
