It first became prominent at the Battle of Staligrad and soon after at the Battle of Berlin during WWII. It affected child soldiers in both Russian and German armies ( ie Hitler Youth). Does anyone know the clinical German name and which source can be referenced.

Elphaba certainly is confused. There's a difference (at least of size) between taking hostages at a failed bank robbery, and a lengthy, traumatic and ultimately unsuccessful wartime siege of a city. lol

Its the fear of being surrounded by a numerically superior force. This was evident after the collpase of the German front along the eastern front after Stalingrad.Hitler made ridiculous orders to hold out fight and to the last man and it took a physiological affect of soilders because the war was butchery without empathy.
