I have a half brother who for some reason refuses to let me contact him. His problem is he has been on (illegal)drugs too long and he is parnoid. I bought him a NASCAR shirt and tried to contact him on his birthday. He absoltely refused to let me have his phone number. I am 14 years older than him.

Talk to your mom (or dad depending which side he is on) and maybe they can talk to him. What he really needs is some counseling and rehab for his drug problem.

He is isolating himself for a reason, and he is medicating himself (numbing himself) for the same reason. He lacks better coping skills, and he is ashmed of himself.

There's not much you can do for him, to help him, or to fix him. If you try, he will suck the life and energy out of you.

You have to be patient. You have to keep making an attempt once in a while, and letting him know that you care about him and do not judge him.

He may come around on his own. If he does, however, start doing things that could potentially harm others, you may need a family intervention.

He probably feels like he does not deserve your love and attention right now. Let him know that when he's ready, he is appreciated and loved, regardless.

First and foremost..Love him. Second...Realize that the term 1/2 brother is something he is using against you, by trying to be a full brother to addiction.Drugs are a crap way to cleanse a crap mentality. I have been in crap a few times(scuse the vulgarity) And I quit on my own..to prove to me (no one else) that I could. He has to have light shed on the damage he is doing before he will think it needs fixing. Be patient, be compassionate..But if he refuses to listen to you, don't bring yourself down. Bring up the worst scenarios to open his eyes...and speak of what could be if he was clean to open his heart. Honest tears drive home honest fears. If he see you are in fear for him and he is hurting you, He may come around. God bless

Just keep trying, but don't be judgmental as that will turn him off.
