in the movie lake house when hero is in 2004 and heroin is in 2006 at the beginning..... how come they both ended up in the same year.. it is really confusing for me.... can anyone clear the confusion about the climax of the story..

At the part of the movie where she found out that he painted the picture on the wall and found out that he passed away in an accident two years before she went to the Lake House and put a note in the mailbox telling him not to look for her at the spot where she was having lunch with her mother. If you remember, he was the one who got hit and killed by the bus. At the time she realized that he painted the picture, it was before he got hit by the bus. So her note told him to wait and not to look for her. By doing this, she saved his life. She told him to wait for two years and then come to the Lake House which he did. By waiting and not getting hit by the bus, it changed the future so he was able to come into the same year as she was.

We just watched it tonight. They were communicating through the mailbox when she was in 2006 and he was in 2003 and then he changed history by meeting up with her in the future after 2003 like at her birthday party and at the train station and then the time when he got killed when the bus hit the car when he was going to meet up with her. So they changed the future when she told him to wait until 2006 and then meet her at the Lake House. That way he avoided being killed. I enjoyed the movie, a little long but if you watched it carefully you could see the whole picture of what was happening and a lot of it was pretty predictable.

well...if you think about it it was really a magic mailbox that could travel through time. he lived in the house before she did, hes writing from 2004 and shes writing from 2006.
the reason they cant talk to each other in 2004 is because she doesnt know him yet and wont know about the mailbox for 2 more years, so he cant talk to her or she will think hes crazy.
she cant talk to him in 2006 because he was killed by by the bus before she got to the mailbox.
does that kind of clear things up?!

Remember when they said they were going to meet at the resturant in her time?? He had to wait 2 years for that date. Kinda the same thing, except in the end they are able to be together. She didn't have to wait for him, but he got the letter 2 years ago and it said that she was waiting for him, so he went there at the time she said.
That is the best i can explain it! Time paradoxies are hard to explain!! If you dont understand it, its hare to explain it!!
My boyfriend didn't get it either but becuase he wouldn't sit through it!
