please dont be a smart *** when answering this question it has nothing to do with knowing everything before getting married. Its a question that alot of people get confused on because you look at one resource and it says one thing you continue the research and you read something else...im just looking for clarification. thank you to those that are actually helping me!

Yes you have to wait cause you will need proof they usually use the marriage license. sorry. It will come soon and all this mess will be over.

SS and DMV don't need your married name to be on the documents. What they need is proof of marriage name. Before you get married you have to have a license right? THERE's your proof! Maybe you should have checked these things out before you got married huh?

I went to the SS office with my marriage license and redone my SSN. Do you have a copy of you marriage license if not you might have to wait on it to come back.

I think the marriage license is the proof. Call and ask.

if you're in a hurry, you can get a certified copy of your marriage liscense from the courthouse where you originally got it. you just need that, and your driver's liscense to change your SSN. if you've already changed your driver's liscense to your new name, take your current SS card with you. if you haven't, it shouldn't be a problem. congrats on getting married!!
