The average IQ of the population as a whole is, by definition, 100. IQs range from 0 to above 200, and among children, to above 250. However, about 50% of the population have IQs between 89 and 111, and about 80% of the population have IQs ranging between 80 and 120, with 10% lying below 80, and 10% falling above 120.
For IQs below 120, IQ is the best predictor of socioeconomic status of any psychometric measurement.
Adults in the bottom 5% of the IQ distribution (below 75) are very difficult to train and are not competitive for any occupation on the basis of ability
Persons of average IQ (between 90 and 100) are not competitive for most professional and executive-level work but are easily trained for the bulk of jobs in the American economy.
"People with IQs between 75 and 90 are 88 times more likely to drop out of high school, seven times more likely to be jailed, and five times more likely as adults to live in poverty than people with IQs between 110 and 125. The 75-to-90 IQ woman is eight times more likely to become a chronic welfare recipient, and four times as likely to bear an illegitimate child than the 110-to-125-IQ woman."

On IQ tests, the average IQ is 100.
Normal would be considered anything around +/- 10 or 15 points, depending on the standard deviation of the test. So, between 85 - 115 is usually the normal range, not too mentally challenged and not too intellectually advanced.
A rating of 100 means simply that a person is functioning at the same level of most people of that age. Since personal experience varies, 85 - 115 is considered normal. A score of 115 means that the person functions mentally as someone with 15 more years of life experience above the norm. Conversely, an 85% means someone is functioning 15 years below people of the same age. Of course these things get tricky when gaging a young persons IQ.

Average IQ of Countries
The average IQ in the United States is usually set at 100. Groups within the US score different average IQ's, such as 115 for college grads or 85 for African-Americans. Similarly, average IQ varies from country to country, shown in the 2002 book IQ and the Wealth of Nations (sets Britain at 100):
Hong Kong 107 Korea, South 106 Japan 105 Taiwan 104 Singapore 104 Austria 102 Germany 102 Italy 102 Netherlands 102 Sweden 101 Switzerland 101 Belgium 100 China 100 New Zealand 100 U. Einstein had intuitive analytical abilities that would be off the chart if measurable. IQ tests don't measure these abilities. Numerous scientists have higher IQs than165 who don't pretend to have his intellectual capacities. There are some extreme nutcases who have also measured as high or higher on the IQ scale, and that scale is out of date as far as being a "scientific" assessment of relative intelligence.
As you can see from one of the allegedly accurate answers here, this person is using it to denigrate African Americans, whose intelligence, when measured as children by more comprehensive methods, equals that of any other ethnic group.
IQ tends to measure the degree a person has assimilated the common knowledge of a particular culture, and unfortunately, the cultural standard used is basically that of the Western world, and the portion of that world with access to the best education.

By definition, the average IQ is 100. Below ninety is below, above 110 is, well, above average.
I wouldn't read too much into I.Q. though. They were initially developed to identify under-achievers in the education system. Since then it has been dreadfully misapplied.

I honestly don't know. But I've always figured whatever I
have experienced in life, good or bad, If I've learned from all of those things, and not become bitter or a bad person? I think that in itself makes me pretty darn smart, high IQ or not. That's probably not what you wanted to hear though, right? Good luck.

The question you really need to be asking is does an IQ test really measure intelligence or does it merely measure how well someone performs on an IQ test?!
