I have an old brick house which has a blacktop driveway abutting one side. I can tell that at one point there was some sort of black sealant between the two as there is some residual black stuff on the house. I am interested in putting something down to reduce water seeping between the house and the driveway.

Hi,I`am going to tell you what I used on my project. It`s a newer product which comes in a coiled package. It looks like black tar rope the dia. of middle finger. You cut it to length to fit the crack.NOW you use hand torch to melt tar substance. It melts sticking to brick and asphalt making a seal that is flex able and sealed.I`am sorry I do not know the name of product.Your Lowe`s or home depot will have it.A little expensive, but worth it.Apply it once and you have no worry`s of leaks. Good Luck

Anything you like the caulk is there for an expansion joint to prevent the blacktop from buckling/cracking when it expands in warmer weather.

I saw in Home Depot a "Blacktop" caulking ... it is specifically designed to be use for blacktop surfaces.

tar kind of stuff, roofing sealant, maybe just more driveway tar, maybe silicone would work too.

I would get a tube of roofing compound $5 maybe, then try it and see if it worked, then buy more if you want to
