My husband and I have a six month old daugther. We were both hoping to have a boy just because we wanted our future children to have a big brother to watch out for them, but are glad to have her--she's a joy and beautiful (she looks like her daddy...). We are ready for another, but we would really like to have a boy. Either way--it will be a blessing, but we'd like to try. Does any one know of any scientific studies or even old wives tales on how to have a boy?
We are already trying to conceive, and as quickly as we "made" our daughter, it might be too late, but I thought I'd ask just in case...

Thanks!

How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby book by Landrum B. Shettles, David M. Rorvik

Gender Selection Supplements for Conceiving a Boy

To conceive a boy, According to Shettles, women should try to have an orgasm at the same time as the man its recommended to time intercourse directly prior to and during ovulation. This means commencing with sex no earlier than 24 hours before ovulation. Having sex the day you ovulate is also crucial. The fast but less "durable" Y-chromosome sperm are favored when cervical mucus is fertile, like egg-white, and the vagina is less acidic.

Shettles advises that to increase the odds of having a boy, do not have intercourse during your "transitional" fertile days four to five days before you ovulate

try this: www.tcoyf.com. This book has tips for trying for a boy/girl.

I would suggest getting the free downolad of the ovulation calendar. www.ovulationcalendar.com, it helps you know when you can have a boy vs a girl. The closer to ovulation you have intercourse, the better the chances to conceive a boy, because the male y-sperm cells are faster than the female x-sperm cells, and they tend to get to the egg first. To improve your chances of conceiving a baby boy, you should have intercourse a day before ovulation, on the day of ovulation, and a day after it.

Probably an old wives tale, but I heard that deeper penetration will make a boy. If you want a girl, have him stand across the room and shoot it in your general vicinity. Like I said, probably an old wives tale though. Good luck!

For a more detailed explanation and community, go to www.fertilityfriend.com and find their group for gender selection.

In the interim, I'll give you the quick and dirty of it. Male sperm are faster but live shorter lives; female sperm are slower but live longer, so the best chance for a boy is to have intercourse within 12 hours of ovulating. If you do it the day before, the males will probably die before the follicle ruptures, and a female sperm will fertilize. Hope this makes sense.

There is nothing you can do. I have two girls, and am now pregnant with a boy. But we had sex as usual, and different times of the year. The only sure way to get a good chance of having what you want is to go get the sex picked. With a specialist. good luck. Otherwise you get what you get.

Have sex on ovulation day by charting you BBT, CM and possibly ovulation prediction kits. Boy sperm are fast and die quickly. You want one to get to the egg 1st so you want it as close to ovulation as possible. Good luck!
