I work as a receptionist in DC. Someone usually covers me for my hour lunch, but the girl who usually covers me got a new job, and now I'm left without a lunch. I have asked numerous of my co-workers to cover me, but no one wants to releve me. I have also brought it to the President of the company's attention, and she never got back to me. What I'm I to do or where could I go to get more information on this.

Beats me. I worked for DOD for 30 years, and had perhaps six lunch breaks in that time. I've heard of something called a coffee break, but I'm not sure what it is. My boss would have been the one to ask. He was gone for half a year but never used any leave time, in fact he got OT during the time he was vacationing!

If you work an eight hour day, as a time clock emplyee, then under federal law you are required to take at least 30 minutes for lunch----no exceptions to this rule.

You cannot, legally, work more than 7:59 hours straight without a half hour break.

Your company has to find a way to get you your lunch. Period.
