If you smell fuel then check if it has spark!! On this car you need to remove the plastic on the passenger side of the motor and then you will locate the spark plugs!! These cars do not have spark plug wires they have a coil on each cylinder you will have to check each coil with a ohmmeter or pull out one of the coils off the spark plug and put a new spark plug at the end of it and then hold it to something metal and then have somebody crank the motor and see if there is spark!! This is the easier way of doing it!! But it you are not mechanically inclined than bring it to a mechanic to take a look at it guaranteed that it has no spark!!!

Check to see if there is a leak, any fluid on the ground? If there is no leak then It could be a the fuel pump relays, fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter, or the fuel pump itself. Depending on the age of the car and what gas you use that may rule out the filter although the filter should be changed during regular maintainence. Turn the ignition key to the first position(turn the radio off) if you here a humming noise when the key is in the first position, that means the pump is working. Try starting the car. If it doesn't turn over stop and let it sit, you don't want to flood the engine with raw gas. That may be your smell. Start with the relays and go from there and get some fuel injector cleaner.

If there's no faults codes all the sensors for the crank and camshaft should be ok, but i would recheck as you Will not get a spark or switch the fuel pump without a signal from either. the white relay under the cover next to fuse box is the main power supply relay for the engine management system, if you swapped the relays make sure you used the right relay in the right connector. However the most likely cause is the you have not connected or the left earth wires on the N/S suspension turret loose.

More than likely, it is a bad fuel pump.

There is a pump which takes gas from the gas tank and sends it to the engine for use. Sounds to me like there is either a leak in the hoses to/from somehwere, or the pump itself has gone bad. As no gas is making to the engine to start tthe car, and the smell of gas is present, this indicates that the gas is not making it past the fuel pump, but rather leaking out somewhere along the way.

Hope this helps :)

Wow what a bunch of crazy answers. The fact that you smell fuel means the fuel system is doing fine . Sounds like worn spark plugs. If it came in to our shop we would check ignition system witch consists of coil, ign rotor, ign cap , spark plug wires and spark plugs. Try a new set of spark plugs first . should only cost about 20 bucks and you cad do it yourself . Iv been an import auto tech for 12 years. good luck

What year?

Check fuel pressure, spark, and for any air leaks around intake boots. If all good - it could be flooded. Hold down gas pedal full throttle and crank for 30 secs.
