Am I the only guy to answer? It is love. Love entails all of the things spoken of here. Respect, Honesty, Trust. It has taken me many years and one horrible marriage to figure that one out.
You must also communicate your love through words and actions. My current wife and I actually talked about what we thought love was and discussed the things we do to show the love. eg. If she is in the same room with me, she is showing her love.(She is not big on the touchy stuff).
Yup. That's it.

Communication and common interests. If you dont have both you are doomed to fail. You have to talk about everything, the good, the bad and the boring. Everything is important. You also have to have things in common. If you dont have very many of these, make some. You also have to have a lot of trust. Some people trust right away and some people build trust. Figure out which one of those you are and go from there. Good luck, and remember, all things worth having are worth working for.

You have to have trust, respect and open conversation. If you really listen to your partners ideas, hopes and dreams and do not make fun of something that you may not like or understand you will have a good chance to have a satisfing and lasting relationship. This has to work both ways. If only one of you are open and giving it will be out of balance. Good Luck.

The usual culprits--honesty, loyalty, and a huge sense of humor. Oh, and forgiveness. Can't forget that! If you want to lose a guy, be domineering, pushy, and trampy. Good luck.

Compatability, respect, honesty, sense of humor, understanding and lots of fun. Money doesn't hurt either, cause it can get tough if you don't have it.
