It is just a rumor. My english professor has seen the footage of the stingray "attack" and while I haven't even looked for it I'm sure she wouldn't just make that up.
I also want to add that he didn't think he was invunerable to attacks. Nobody in that profession does. They push limits yes, but they always know something can happen to them. In fact he has been known to say he wasn't nearly as comfortable in water as he was on land, which makes sense since you can't move nearly as fast in the water.

Most of what is published is not manufactured, but there are newspapers that excel at bending or slanting it a little, in order to sell more newspapers!!
I had the feeling that he was a family man, that made a career out of doing what he did! He would probably be responsible enough to know when it was time to work or play and it would be difficult to fake a Stingray wound, like he had, I bet?
Stick to the facts and ask youself: Who would benifit from a cover up or bending the truth, a little?
I wish we could have been a fly on that wall!

I don't believe that at all. That man was a very good man and I truly think this was an accident. Barbara Walters had his wife on for one hour program the other night. What a beautiful person she was. I really felt close to her when she was talking. You could tell the answers she gave, came from her heart.
Please don't pay any attention to any rumors that go around. People will do and say anything for a new story line. Anything to make a dollar off of some one else's tragedy...

Those magazines will say almost anything to sell their magazine. I think he got stung by the stingray because he was the adventurous type and didn't think anything would happen to him. Only the people that were there with him will really know what happened.

Who, pray tell are they? Irwin died of a stingray barb through the heart, nothing more, nothing less.

Irwin was secretly working for the CIA to 'debarb' stingrays. Terrorists were going use them to blow up U.S. ships.
