I'm a Republican for the record; I wish that they hurry up and throw Mark Foley in jail before he knows what hits him.

However, why did Ed Kennedy get away with hit-and-run back in 1969? I'm sure he feels guilty for what he does but why is he still senator after this incident? And how did Patrick Kennedy get off scot-free while driving drugged up?

Hey, Robert Byrd may have been a KKK member but at least he repented.

It's that old double standard, my friend. When a Democrat representative was having sex with a page and it came out, he was only censured, and then later was made a committee chairman.
But let a Republican get caught just talking about it and the press goes wild.

Stages of Coping for a Republican in the face of Scandal

1. Denial. Republicans Never do anything wrong.
2. Anger. The Democrats set us up! They leaked this just to embarrass us!
3. Bargaining. But Ted Kennedy and that one guy 10 years ago were much worse so we're still the good guys.
4. Depression.
5. Acceptance. Well OK, I guess our guy screwed up. No wait. This is Clinton's fault!

I'm a democrat. :)
The Kennedys are an extremely powerful family, and in this country, your connections can get you out of almost any situation. Aside from that, being a high-ranking politician has a lot of pull, we all know that. Byrd is still in office, and Foley has only recently gotten into any trouble at all, even though this problem has been going on for years and years.
Its frustrating to me, personally, because I don't give a damn what party you belong to. If you're a crook, get the hell out of my senate.

He's a Kennedy which make him part god in Mass. and he supposedly at least tried to save that girl from drowning so I guess that's enough for the Mass. voters. Plus I believe he was never found to be drunk which could also have been a cover up.

Because the people of his state are endeared by the name Kennedy and they would not jeopardize the power the family wields in the world of politics. People can be blind as long as they are getting what they want. It goes to demonstrate that greed can be more powerful than integrity.

Byrd never repented. He just joined the new KKK: the Democratic Party. They have done more to keep blacks down than the Klan ever could

Rep. Patrick Kennedy was convicted of two traffic violations, put on probation, and paid fines. He got it worse than any of the people convicted of the same offenses around here.

Political connections. Foley doesn't have them, the Kennedys do.

Why was Mayor Marion Berry elected as mayor again? People are stupid and ignorant and are able to over lookway too many faults of people that should not be holding elected office.

I think that was an accident, not a hit and run. Chappaquitik (or however the hell you spell it)? He was possibly drunk and ran off a bridge. He escaped and ran. The woman he was with died. I guess they didn't have enough to prove it wasn't an accident.
