These days most ISPs use dynamic IP addresses, meaning they change every time you logon.

If you have a fixed IP address, contact your Internet Service Provider. They are the ones who can help you with getting another IP address.

If they don't support dynamic IP addresses, then you may have to switch ISPs. If you don't have a need for a static IP address, don't use it.

There are programs that can mask your IP address. You need to have a firewall running ASAP. Download and install the free one from www.zonealarm.com It's really good.

You can only get a new IP from your internet provider. But if you have broadband access, a firewall on your computer you could get additional protection by putting a router between you and the modem. It assumes the IP and has a built in firewall and assigns your computer a different local IP.

Please repost with more of the following information:

What are you using to access the Internet (cable/DSL/Dialup)
(Then you have to contact the ISP to get it changed)

Do you have a router so that more than one computer can access the Internet at the same time?
(Then you may be able to change it yourself)

Are you using wireless?
(Then you need to set up local security, not change the IP)

Solution is different for each...

But instead of changing your IP, what you probably need to do is install a good firewall program like the free ZoneAlarm from download.com. That will protect you even with the same IP address.

if you are a standard user of broadband. you are controlled by dhcp and you address changes all the time.

you can open a command prompt (start>run> type cmd > ok) and try ipconfig /release
then ipconfig /renew

but you will probably just get the same address.

How was your computer hacked? that will help me let you know what to do with it.
