Anything associated with an anti-evolution position is a good example of quack science, even anti-science.

But even within the field of physics the theoritical physicists are romanitizing with "string theory" which never has come up with any testable hypothesis and thus is NOT science or a theory. If they ever come up with something that can be tested, great! But until then it is just some pretty formulas that don't mean anything.

Of course you can add astrology, faith healing, homeopathic medicine, most forms of accurpuncture, crystal healing, mega doses of Vitamin C, radium spas, magnetic bands, and many other health related quack cures.

Special gizmos that you put on the car's engine to increase gas milage. Deriving vast amounts of energy from empty space.

Everywhere you look you can find scams on science. They all have one essential component, the ignorance of those who listen to them.

Global warming is not quack science, but the politicization of it is. Unfortunately we just don't know enough yet to make any intelligent decisions on what is the best thing to do. There is a very incomplete study of the different gases that contribute to global warming (CO2 is just one minor player) and virtually nothing is know about gw sinks, what happens to gw gases. Methane is by far a more potent gw gas than CO2 and the USA is one of the lowest methane produces in the world. Russia, India, and China lead in the production of methane, which is 20 times more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.

Some examples of pseudoscience are:

1.Alien Abductions
2.Astrology
3.Alternative medicine - Homeopathy, Magnetic Therapy, Acupuncture, etc.
4.Ghosts and communicating with the dead
5.Past Lives
6.Creationism
7.Dowsing
8.Monsters - Bigfoot, Loch Ness monster etc.
9.EMF poisoning .

(A pseudoscience is set of ideas based on theories put forth as scientific when they are not scientific. A theory is scientific if and only if it explains a range of empirical phenomena and can be empirically tested in some meaningful way. Scientific testing usually involves deducing empirical predictions from the theory. To be meaningful, such predictions must, at least in theory, be possible to be false. This quality of scientific theories was called falsifiability by Karl Popper. A pseudoscientific theory claims to be scientific, i.e., be falsifiable, but either the theory is not really falsifiable or it has been falsified but its adherents refuse to accept that the theory has been refuted.)

Sarge 927 got it right. Astrology doesn't even rise to the level of pseudoscience. Global warming is a fallacy which extrapolates data into a conclusion which is specious at best.

Global warming. Here's how the story goes: The average temperature in every major city in the world has gone up over the last 20 years, so the average temperature of the planet must be going up, hence global warming. They have the data to back this up, but this is where common sense takes a back seat. The scientists didn't check to see if the population of these cities has gone up (it has) and how much it has gone up (as much as 50% in the last 20 years in some cases). When you get more people living in closer proximity to each other -- which concentrates what? HEAT -- and more buildings are made of concrete and brick -- which absorbs what? HEAT -- and more vehicles are around to expel more exhaust -- which is a combination of gases and what? HEAT -- how can you be sure the overall temperature of the planet is going up? And what can you say about the huge body of scientific evidence to show that the average temperature in smaller cities and rural areas is going DOWN? Instead of being objective and using scientific method properly, the environmental extremists have come to a conclusion and have only collected data to support their theory -- THAT is pseudo-science.

Where they conduct a "test" and use the results for informercials, it's often psuedoscience. Psuedo is latin for false, and these tests are often biased and not from a random enough group, or conducted within parameters considered to be acceptable. Most commercial data is of this nature.
