I had this procedure last Thurs(6 days ago). The exam and biopsies seemed normal as anyone else’s experience (certainly no fun). So, I was fine Fri,Sat, then on Sun I had terrible cramps, I don’t usually get these. They lasted 2-3 hrs and went away but enough to make a tough girl cry! Sun went on and after dinner all the sudden I felt I had passed something. This was so quick, not like the spotting I had so I RUN to the bathroom and what I found was not good. It was like a sac (covered in grayish membrane) and something a huge clot inside. It was 5in long. So I started to research the symptoms & seems like miscarriage! I immediately called Dr Mon; I ask did you do a pregnancy test? She said “NO You TOLD me you were NOT pregnant!” She proceeds to say it was probably nothing and if must come in she would make appt for Tues. I am not sure anyone else ever had this happen? Is it normal? I still hurt in the lower back, and generally feel sluggish, and spotting, is it all in my head?

Thanks for the help, I am going to another Dr today, I did the at-home test but was negative. That is why I thought waybe I was over-reacting! I did not save tissue, I thought about it and examined closly myself... again I don't want to over dramatize something. I have been sad about this, I have been on the pill for 8 years and never miscarried or been pregnant before so I never expect that to happen. This doctor could have hurt me thought, and I think a test for pregnancy should have been done.

i hope you save the tissue that was passed-it can be evaluated for pregnancy tissue and then you will know if you were or were not pregnant, i am assuming this happened in the last few days, if i were you i would take a home pregnancy test today and if it is positive, high tail it to your doctors for a pregnancy test so it can be documented that you do indeed have the hormone in your circulation. if this was a miscarriage, you should still test positive. however, if this was over a week ago and you are testing negative and dont have the tissue you may never know if you were pregnant. colposcopy can be done on pregnant women-that is just looking at the cervix, however doing biopsies and endocervical curettage on pregnant women is another matter.

Hi,
I've had a colposcopy done twice (one last year and one about 2 weeks ago). The first time it hurt like hell, but the cramps just lasted in the next hours after the doctor did it, which is normal. The second one, I hated it. This time, other doctor did it and it hurt so much that I was about to cry. I had the cramps and I was bleeding a little bit for the next 2-4 days (it didn't last this long the first time, though). That grey-ish thing also came out, but not as much as it happened to you. I'd say that if your symptoms continue, you visit another gyn, as probably they just messed up something inside of you, or probably there's something wrong with the colposcopy and the doctor just didn't tell you. The cramps usually occur immediately after they've done the colposcopy, so girl, this is not JUST in your head! take immediate action!

It seems strange that the doctor would not have you come in sooner. If I were you, I would go ahead and go to and urgent care center or emergency room. (Sometimes doctors are wrong.) A blood test will show if you were pregnant because you would still have the hormone in your bloodstream. Are you sure about where the bleeding is coming from? A colonopscopy can cause some bleeding from the rectum. That should always be checked out too though. I have a friend who ignored it and ended up having to have a transfusion because she almost bled to death. It may turn out that this indeed "nothing," but why take the chance - it is better to get it checked out and have peace of mind!

I spotted for two weeks after mine...and I had full blown cancer...but passing something five inches long. You almost certainly had a miscarriage. I'm so sorry. But a blood test may still show signs of a lost pregnancy. Hell try an at home test and see if the hormone shows up. For your own health they need to find out if you had a miscarriage, you may require a D&C. And as for the dizziness you shouldn't have any at this point unless you had a miscarrage.

No, it's not all in your head! Sounds like you did have a miscarriage and you are cramping because your body is cleaning itself out. I would consult a lawyer and file a claim w/their insurance. In the mean time get a 2nd opinion!!!! Sounds like she doesn't want a lawsuit on her hands!!!

What a sad situation! And no sympathy or co-operation from from the one who did that procedure! It's horrible~

You must go to Doctor/ER and make sure you're ok.

PLEASE LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE !!!
