yes.. many people do.. My advice is only buy form sellers within the USA and Western Europe. Many fakes are sold there from China that look sooo real and Ebay should ban them why they have not I dont know as China is famous for producing great fakes.

Once in my early days of EBaying. I bought a set of handcuffs from what was suposed to be a seller from up at the Great Lakes area but when I went into paypal to pay, my payment was sent to Canada. But almost 200 transactions later and I'm still selling and buying with 100% positive feedback. It's usually the users error when it comes to getting ripped off. Checking the sellers feedback is a very good indication on whether you should buy from an individual.

No, I've never used ebay, but some of my friends have ordered textbooks over ebay. I've heard from several of them that the books didn't look as good as in the pictures and showed up with ripped or missing pages. I suggest Craigslist because u can meet a seller in person.

People who get ripped off are responsible for the issue. Either they don't read the description or they need to deal with Ebay and or Paypal on the matter. Each of these companies will help you in case of a problem with a buyer or seller.

I heard of someone who purchased an IPOD over ebay, and it cost them $200. Never arrived. Ebay's Paypal credits up to $100 for a bogus sale. So, the person recovered 1/2 of the monetary loss.

My dad was ripped off when buying a textbook for me. The seller said the book was shipped, but we never recieved it. I believe eBay refunded us our money. (I think since everything is done through paypal, they can take money back if the seller doesn't follow through.)

Yes, I paid for items and never received them!! When I sent money orders for items it used to be one out of every five purchases, so, I then went to pay-pal, and I was ripped off twice in about forty purchases, and one was resolved after a period of time. So, when I purchase something I prefer the pay-pal symbol.

some good experiences only 1 bad experience period and the seller took care of the problems. But just remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Also read all of the listing before you bid they can write 1 little thing in their and can screw you that way

Once. I was the winning bidder, paid for the item, and never received it. I emailed the seller, who apologized, said he would refund my money. He never did. Then he disappeared.
This experience is not typical. Fortunately, it was only $23.00, so it didn't break me. Most eBay sellers are reliable.
