Yes they can / and do use the internet but is is very closely monitored there is only certain sites they can visit and everything they do / say go`s through a filter that the guards read before it is forwarded to the relevant party / persons . they can not however use chat room`s etc . but they can use the internet to help them with their education . this is in the uk .

A few low-risk do. My brother in law is in prison and is taking college classes. He has very limited access (no email or chat), but he does get to use a computer from time to time.

I wouldn't be surprised they have DVD players and TV'S and Karaoke sessions at the xmas parties.Pathetic isn't it.
